We are the North American division of world-renown Metrohm AG (Herisau, Switzerland), an industry leader in laboratory instruments and accessories for analytical testing/research. Our spectroscopy product line serves a broad range of end-user markets including Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Security & Defense, Energy, and Food. We are looking for a Spectroscopy Applications Specialist (SPS) with expertise in vibrational (NIR and Raman) spectroscopy to join our Tampa Bay, FL area office.

The Spectroscopy Applications Specialist is part of our US spectroscopy team that supports existing customer applications and the development of new applications. The primary responsibility entails planning and executing laboratory experiments, interpreting the data, and presenting the results to stakeholders either via remote platforms or in-person at customer sites.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Developing and giving customer training classes, both in office and at customer sites. This includes both lecture and hands-on training.
  • Providing post-sales applications support either directly or through the Technical Support team.
  • Presenting technical materials at tradeshows and conferences.
  • Provide voice of customer to the Product Manager and develop applications for positioning Metrohm products.
  • Collaborating with other applications scientists, service engineers, and stakeholders to solve problems.

This position requires up to 20% travel. This position is an office-based position in our Riverview, Florida headquarters. Other locations may be available depending on the candidate.

Education and Qualifications:

Master of Science or Ph.D. Degree in Chemistry, Physics or related field with four years of technical experience in NIR, Raman, or IR spectroscopy; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise with multivariate data classification and regressions tools including PCA, SIMCA, PLS, PCR, MLR, etc.
  • Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, apply judgement in real-time, and deal with challenging problems.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and systematic troubleshooting skills.
  • Clear vision of and commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Previous experience with Metrohm and B&W Tek instruments is a plus.
