JOB TITLE:

Upward Bound Summer Program 2024 Science Instructor

JOB PURPOSE:

Provide instruction in an assigned science course in conjunction with the research mentorship.

- Dates of summer program (including training) are May 29th-July 2nd 2024

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Work cooperatively with the Research Mentor to teach core scientific concepts required to complete participants' research projects.

- Provide active, student-centered learning environment

-Work with math teachers if specific topics need to be covered in participant math courses to ensure success in participant science courses

- Must be available to teach a lecture component on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 8am-9am with a lab component on Thursday afternoon from 3pm-5pm. Also attend at least 1 study hall session Mon-Wed from 3pm-5pm

- Attend all weekly academic meetings, as required.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Junior standing at the undergraduate level in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or related field; 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher,

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree

For example, in Chemistry an introduction to the Periodic Table, for Physics the formulas for Force or in Biology an introduction to cell terms.
