JOB TITLE:

UW Extension AmeriCorps Member

JOB PURPOSE:

Participate and engage in capacity building projects in assigned county Extension office throughout the state of Wyoming

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

AmeriCorps Extension Members will participate and assist in capacity building activities in coordination with existing Extension focus areas and programming. Members will work cooperatively with and take direction from the program staff and county office employees. Members will complete one week of orientation at the beginning of service. After which, members will provide assistance and help coordinate educational activities in conjunction with UW Extension Educators. Focus-areas include 4-H Youth Development, Agriculture & Natural Resources, and Community Vitality & Health. Members' responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, providing experiential learning opportunities, facilitating community conversations, coordination of programming such as Master Gardener and Cent$ible Nutrition, participating in agricultural education, group learning programs, and various Extension outreach efforts. Projects are located throughout each county in the state of Wyoming, working with local, state, and federal agencies. Members will be required to fulfill a total hourly commitment over the course of the term of service (March-October). Completion of initial training and fulfillment of hourly commitments through training, projects, and some travel are required in order to be eligible to receive the AmeriCorps Education Award. Members will complete a variety of trainings and orientations for the UW Extension program and its AmeriCorps affiliation. This is a drug and alcohol free position with zero tolerance. AmeriCorps members will be supervised by UW Extension employees.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to and requires the successful candidate be available to work within the county Extension office. Potential opportunities to serve exist in all 23 counties of Wyoming and the Wind River Indian Reservation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: None

Other Requirements: Pass FBI background check, Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the .

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Previous AmeriCorps experience

Community service experience

County Extension Experience
