JOB TITLE:

Tenure-Track Faculty at the Assistant or Associate rank.

JOB PURPOSE:

The College of Engineering and Physical Sciences (CEPS) of the University of Wyoming includes 10 departments and the newly formed School of Computing. The College prides itself on research innovation, teaching excellence, industrial engagement, and broader societal impact. With a significantly increased budget, we have embarked on a transformational journey to become a Tier-1 Institution, recognized nationally for academic excellence and world-class research. This includes new state-of-the-art facilities and dedicated funding for research initiatives. We are hiring a cohort of new faculty across the College, and we seek to attract a diverse and inclusive group of talented early-stage faculty and established researchers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties of the position are:

  • To teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the candidate's discipline in engineering or physical sciences.
  • To conduct research in CEA. A successful research program is characterized by externally funded projects, refereed publications, recruitment and supervision of graduate students, and national and international presentations. Collaborative and interdisciplinary research is welcome.
  • To perform service to the home Department, College, and the University

The University of Wyoming has established a Center for Controlled Environment Agriculture (C-CEA) and has strong CEA industry partnerships. The successful candidate is expected to closely work with the leadership team and members of C-CEA at the University of Wyoming. The activities include, but are not limited to, interdisciplinary research proposal development, curriculum development, research presentations, and outreach activities.

This is an interdisciplinary search; the successful candidate's area of research may include (but not limited to): thermodynamic and evapotranspiration processes, water and greywater use, energy modeling and energy management, process analysis and control, advanced lighting technologies, computer vision, robotics, distributed sensing networks, life cycle analysis, closed-loop and autonomous system design, or biosystem engineering.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D. degree, completed by August 2024, in a discipline suitable for appointment in one of the following departments:
    • Chemical and Biomedical Engineering
    • Civil and Architectural Engineering and Construction Management
    • Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
    • Mechanical Engineering
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct novel research in CEA-related areas
  • A clear vision for future research including plans for external funding
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Successful candidate will be hired to either the Assistant or Associate rank, depending on qualifications.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in teaching engineering or computer science courses at the college level
  • Demonstrated ability to write proposals for external funding.
  • Ability to conduct interdisciplinary research including with industry partners.
