JOB TITLE:

Makerspace Coordinator

JOB PURPOSE:

Lead the dispatch of eighteen mobile makerspaces to rural and remote communities across Wyoming. Coordinate the design and development of social emotion learning (SEL) and Career Technical Education (CTE) curriculum targeting adult and child audiences across all major Wyoming makerspaces. This work includes but is not limited to coordinating interdisciplinary working groups; staffing and supervision of student and community employees; providing administrative and logistical support to dispatch teams and partnering K-12 institutions; developing and delivering K-12 and college level education outreach; fostering partnerships within the community; as well as managing and supporting the mobile makerspace equipment (3D printers, laser cutters, 3D scanners, robotics, laptops and displays, introductory woodshop equipment, sewing machines and crafting tools).

This position is grant funded and considered at-will employment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact to manage and coordinate the WMM (Wyrkshop Mobile Makerspace) initiative. Organize and maintain inventory of both consumable and non-consumable supplies. Schedule and dispatch the mobile makerspaces on rotation throughout the state.
  • Ensure the spaces are adequately staffed, with adequate supplies kept on hand to accommodate the needs of the K-12 and community visitors.
  • Develop new workshop training programming, CTE, and SEL curriculum, and project-based STEAM activities to integrate into the Maker Access Pass for both traditional and nontraditional groups, Provide expert level support for SEL and CTE curriculum designed as part of the WMM initiative. Assist the WMM working groups with expanding the existing library of training modules designed to maximize visitor access to tools, features, and maker resources.
  • Provide expert level support in the use of hardware and software used to support the efforts of the WMM initiative.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and schedule student staff to assist in the facilitation of educational programs and workshops. Assign and monitor employee work, priorities, and special projects. Ensure accuracy and completeness of work. Enforce policies and procedures regarding safety, training, use of equipment, and access to the space. Ensure that makerspace procedures and being followed.
  • Assist the WMM working groups with the design and development of outreach materials for use by students and educators. Plan and coordinate educational outreach events each semester to be used by all participating makerspaces
  • Collaborate with statewide groups and partners on annual special events and activities.
  • Serve on College and University committees as appropriate

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's degree

Experience: 1 year of work-related experience or equivalent education and experience

Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements: Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the .

  • Experience with hauling, backing , and parking cargo trailers, up to 28' & 8,000lbs
