JOB TITLE:

Research Assistant

JOB PURPOSE:

Research Assistant at Powell Research and Extension Center under the direction of the project leader Jim Heitholt and PREC farm manager Samual George on externally funded research trials.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This assistant will be responsible for preparing seed, planting, weeding, irrigating, recording ecophysiology data, soil sampling, harvesting, post-harvest sample analysis, operating/maintaining various pieces of equipment, and cleaning of seed. Examples of crops involved in this research include, but are not restricted to: alfalfa, barley, chickpea, corn, dry bean, hops, sugar beet, and wheatgrass. Assignments may also include preparing and/or calibrating field/lab equipment used in association with this research. The research assistant may also be asked to help the project leader with document preparation associated with annual reports and grant proposals.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work at the Powell Research and Extension Center.

High School Diploma
