JOB TITLE:

MSW Program Director- Division of Social Work

JOB PURPOSE:

The Division of Social Work at the University of Wyoming invites applications for a Master of Social Work (MSW) Program Director position at the rank of Associate Professor, and the preferred start date is August 2024. The MSW Program Director is a 9-month, full-time tenure-track position with an additional month dedicated to administration during the summer term. In addition to .50 FTE dedicated to administrative leadership of the MSW Program and instruction, the successful candidate will engage in teaching, research/scholarship, profession-related community engagement, and service to the Division, University, and profession.

The Division of Social Work offers a Generalist BSW program and an Advanced Generalist MSW program enrolling approximately 70 undergraduate and 50 graduate students.The MSW program offers a hybrid model that utilizes distance education methods as well as intensive face-to-face week-end classes to deliver the curriculum statewide.This fall (2023), the Division expanded its offerings to include a part-time MSW program located in central Wyoming and housed on the University of Wyoming/Casper Campus. The Division has a commitment to scholarship, education, and practice rooted in the principles and values of social justice.

We are looking for candidates with social work practice, teaching, research, and administrative experience who can advance our commitment to socially just practice and uphold our tradition of excellence in educating new social workers. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to student-centered pedagogy, social justice, and engaged learning and have distance teaching and course development experience. Additionally, experience working in rural settings and evidence of strong interpersonal skills are highly valued.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to, MSW Program administration, including student recruitment, admission, and advisement; curriculum leadership; teaching a range of MSW classes across curricula; scholarship; and University and community service. The position may require evening teaching, travel within the state, and teaching using distance delivery systems.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Earned Ph.D. in social work or closely related field.
  • MSW from a CSWE-accredited program
  • Two years of post-MSW practice experience
  • Evidence of leadership experiences
  • Strong record of research to warrant appointment at the associate rank
  • Record of teaching in MSW programs
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the .

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in a generalist/advanced generalist social work program
  • Prior academic administrative experience at the university level
  • Experience with online teaching and/or distance education programs
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of CSWE accreditation standards and processes.
