Job Description:

The pharmacy student (intern) assists pharmacists to provide pharmacy services including the evaluation and input of licensed independent practitioner orders/prescriptions, and the technical functions of drug procurement, preparation, and distribution. These and all other duties are completed under the supervision of a pharmacist, but in this final phase of training. Expectation: Is proficient in pharmacy technical functions and the pharmacology and utilization of medications. An Intern at this level is expected to serve as a leader and mentor for other pharmacy Interns and technicians.

Scope

As an Outpatient Pharmacy Intern, you need to know how to:
Assist the pharmacist in all phases of drug distribution and monitoring. Fill orders and manage inventories for floor stock. Refill, exchange, charge, and credit medications.
Fill orders and refill and stock medications for all departments and affiliates, including management of automatic dispensing units when assigned.
Support the clinical functions of the department by assisting the pharmacist in retrieving data, screening profiles and doing calculations.
Serve as a back up to other support positions. Complete assignments designed to complement the academic learning requirements of pharmacy licensure and practice.


Minimum Qualifications

- Current student or recent graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy, required- Current licensure by the Colorado Board of Pharmacy as an Intern, required- At least six (6) months of retail pharmacy experience, preferred

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
