GENERAL DESCRIPTION:


The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is an agency committed to providing a safe, high quality, and efficient transportation system for the State of Wyoming. WYDOT is currently seeking two Temporary Signal Technician for the Traffic Program located in Rock Springs, Wyoming. This position will assist the traffic department in electrical operations for the district.

Rock Springs is the 5th largest city in Wyoming and known for outdoor activities such as fishing, biking, hiking, golfing as well as activities at the nearby Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area. The city celebrates "International Day" each summer with a festival where the foods, costumes, and traditions of towns ancestors are recreated. Rock Springs is home to Western Wyoming Community College and the Wyoming's Big Show carnival. All this while enjoying no state income tax!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.

  • Assist traffic crews with general maintenance operations.
  • Traffic crews work four 10-hour days per week.
  • Subject to 24 hour call out in the event of an emergency.



Qualifications


PREFERENCES:


This is an entry level position that requires no prior training or experience.


KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of and use of power tools and tape measures.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State requirements for proper use of personal protective equipment.

Necessary Special Requirements


PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Must be able to travel extensively within the district
  • Subject to 24 hour call out in the event of an emergency


NOTES:
  • FLSA: Non-exempt
  • All new hires or rehires starting in a non-exempt position on or after January 1, 2018 are required to be paid hourly.
  • Individuals in this classification will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing
  • This is a temporary full-time position
