Summary

Dish Spacecraft Operations is looking for an experienced and motivated System Administrator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting ground system components in support of 24/7 spacecraft operations activities. This position is available in Gilbert, AZ or Cheyenne, WY.

This position will support all aspects of network and system administration in a critical, high availability operations environment. Ideal candidates will enjoy working in small teams and be able to quickly adapt to changing requirements, priorities, and workloads.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Installation, configuration, backup and recovery of desktop and server systems
  • Work as part of a team of system administrators and software engineers to maximize system uptime, consistency, scalability, and performance
  • Troubleshoot system/network issues and escalate operations impacting events to senior staff as necessary
  • Respond to tier 1 and tier 2 support requirements for internal and external customers as needed
  • Assist with system performance monitoring and capacity planning
  • Research, evaluate, and propose new technologies to senior staff
  • Support and participate in disaster recovery development, testing, and execution as needed
  • Evaluate and install new software releases, system upgrades, patches, and resolve software related problems
  • Document system configurations
  • Develop and train procedures for routine and critical tasks
Skills - Experience and Requirements

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in Information Technology or related field, or 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Must be U.S. person (e.g., U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident) as position requires access to U.S. export restricted materials
  • Ability to fulfill a 24x7 on-call rotation and respond onsite within 30 minutes
  • The ability to move and install equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, into equipment racks or lab areas

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a spacecraft operations or high availability environments a plus
  • Experience with Linux and Microsoft Server/Desktop operating systems
  • Previous work with data center operations, disaster recovery, and network security tools a plus
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret business periodicals, technical procedures, or government policy. Able to write reports, correspondence, and operations procedures
  • Comfortable presenting information and responding to questions from managers, corporate executives, and customers
  • Ability to manage time and effectively prioritize numerous projects
  • Ability to solve complex problems and see projects through to completion
  • Familiarity with RF equipment highly desirable
